Harm reduction outreach is the philosophy and
practice of respectfully collaborating with individuals to assist any
positive change as a person defines it for her/himself and begins where
the person is at with no biases or condemnation for the persons choices.
To this end, LifeGuard:

Meets people where
they are - physically, emotionally, spiritually, and geographically

Provides harm/risk
reduction counseling

Provides syringe exchange
services
-
Provides overdose
prevention education including access to naloxone
-
Provides capacity building for service providers
upon request
-
Provides referrals for HIV Counseling, Testing, and Referral,
Hepatitis C counseling and testing, and Hepatitis A& B vaccinations
LifeGuard serves clients in Eastern Iowa and
across West/Central Illinois, roughly along I-74 and
I-80.
LifeGuard advocate volunteers provide service
access in the Quad Cities, Galesburg, Peoria, Pekin, and other
areas as requested/possible.
